Karen Andreola

Can a book change your homeschool? For me, it did. Author Karen Andreola sent me a lovely stack of her books to review. She included Story Starters, Mother Culture, and her newest historical fiction novel, Michael’s Gentle Wife. Little did she know that Mother Culture had been on my TBR shelf for over 5 years. See my video on my YouTube channel for more about these books. The direct link is in my stories.

It was a sweet providence of the Lord that sent Karen’s email to my inbox. Her books about home education gave me the lightbulb moment I needed in my homeschool. I’ll go more into that in a later video. Today, I want to introduce you to her books.

Story Starters is a wonderful book for your language arts shelf. It’s exactly what it says; story starters to help your child with writing. Filling the pages are beautiful historical images that Karen lovingly selected to help your child imagine the story in their mind. If you have a child who needs help with creative writing, this is a wonderful book. It’s for all ages!

Mother Culture is a homeschooling mom classic. What is Mother Culture? It’s a term by Karen herself that addresses the need for mothers to continue in culturing themselves. This is more than self-care, it’s taking care of your mind and soul as a Christian, wife, and mother. I love her approach! I’m someone who loves education and learning, so this book was very appealing to me as a mother and homeschooler. What is my personal mother culture? Right now it’s cooking, reading, and trying for the third time to figure out crocheting. Andreola also addresses homeschooling, mothering, marriage, homemaking, and friendships in this book.

I can’t say enough good things about Michael’s Gentle Wife. It’s my favorite book of the year. This is a historical novel set in the 1930’s about the Weaver family, their 3 children, and all of their adventures and trials. The Weavers are strong Christians and we see their faith in the Lord on every page. Our main character, Carol, loves and enjoys being a wife and mother (yes!), and she and her husband have the sweetest marriage. You’ll homeschooling, family worship, cooking, gardening, and more in this book. There are how-to books written inside of this book (read it to find them all!). This is a 4-in-1 book, and almost 500 pages! Savor this one, friends. You’ll want to get this one to read over the summer.

A huge thank you to Karen Andreola for sending me these books for review. I enjoyed these books greatly.
