Homemade Pop Tart Recipe
Homemade Pop Tart Recipe (that tastes better than store bought)
With the rising price of groceries, I’ve been making sure to cut down on food waste and use up everything in my fridge and freezer. That’s when this recipe came to mind.
I had 2 boxes of ready made pie dough that I needed to use up.
How to Make Homemade Pop Tarts
See video below from my Instagram Reels.
You’ll need a biscuit cutter, sheet pan, and parchment paper.
Ingredients
Ingredients:
Pie dough (homemade of store bought)
Preserves or jam per , any kind
1 Egg
1 1/4 cup Powdered sugar
1/2 tsp Vanilla
2 TBSP Milk/cream
Food coloring & sprinkles (optional)
Unroll pie dough and roll out if needed. Use a biscuit cutter (or any other shape) to create the bottom half of the pop tart.
Place on parchment lined baking sheet.
Top each with 1tsp jam/preserves. Leave an edge to seal the top and bottom pieces.
Put the top half of the dough on the bottom and seal with a fork.
Brush egg whites on each top. Bake at 400 degrees for 14 minutes or until golden.
Let cool completely on wire rack.Make the icing or use store bought.
I used about 1 1/2 cup icing, 2TBSP milk, and 1/2 tsp vanilla.
Play with the consistency until you have it the way you like it. Add food coloring if using. When the pastries are completely cool, top with icing and sprinkles.
