Inside each My Father’s World (MFW) curriculum, you’ll find a set of student sheets. Wrapped in plastic, they are loose and not bound. Up in the right hand corner, MFW tells you what week you’ll be using the student sheet inside the curriculum.
When the box first arrived in the mail with all of our new curriculum and books, I originally put it the wrapped student sheets away until I was ready to organize for the new year. I purchased or curriculum somewhat early to take advantage of the early bird sale that My Father’s World had going on. I wasn’t disappointed!

Now that we are just 4 weeks out from our first day of school, I knew I needed to figure out how I was going to organize both of my boys’ notebooks and student sheets. I feel like something that should be so simple was very complicated. I couldn’t seem to figure out what the best way to organize all of these worksheets would be.

I considered the 3 ring binder approach. That seems to be the most popular. Just hole punch and put them in a binder. I also considered spiral binding them since I have a binder machine at home.

Inspiration finally struck when I was scrolling Facebook one evening and saw another mom filing papers in a file organizer. I knew immediately how I was going to organize.I even made a video to show you just how I put this all together, and to explain my strategy going into it.

I bought 2 of these file organizers with hanging file folders. The box comes with 5 hanging file folders. I knew I needed more than that, so I bought a box of extra black hanging file folders from amazon. I also purchased manila folders to put in the hanging files and made sure I had at least 30 for each student.

I wanted the boxes to fit neatly on my desks, or underneath my boys’ desks, so I purchased the boxes that were not super wide. I doubled up each hanging file with 2 file folders (week 1 and week 2 are together in the first hanging file, week 3 and week 4 are together in the next hanging file and so on). This works out well as it saves space, and it leaves room for me to move easily between the files.

Once I had all the file folders in place, I labeled them with Week 1 through Week 36. I like to keep things simple, so I wrote it in pen rather than using the label maker. Then I unwrapped each bundle of student sheets and placed each student sheet in the corresponding folder. Like I mentioned above, each student sheet will say at the top “week ___”, letting me know easily where to file it.

Once I was finished, I placed the extras in their own special file in the back. For Exploring Countries and Cultures, I put the geography Game pieces, Currency Kit, and Math Facts in their own folders and labeled them accordingly. This will be a great way to keep all the pieces together and make sure we don’t lose them throughout the year. Once I have the pieces laminated and cut out, I’ll put the pieces in a ziplock bag, then place the bag in the file. For about $25 a student, I was able to make a perfect My Father’s World organization plan quickly and easily for our student sheets. We’re officially one step closer to the first day of school! How do you organize you student sheets?
